IG US

IG US LLC is a member of the National Futures Association (NFA) and is regulated by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). In order to be eligible for providing forex trading, a would be broker must first maintain a net capital of $20 million minimum; the main reason only a handful of brokers remain in operations in the USA. Compare this with CySEC’s  €730 000 requirement and you’ll start to see the seriousness of things. Furthermore, the leverage in the US has been limited to 1:50.

The CFTC is an independent U.S. federal agency, with a head global markets commissioner appointed by the president and approved by the senate. The main duties of this entity is to protect investors against fraud and manipulation.

The NFA is a self-regulatory organization for the U.S. futures and derivatives markets. It’s main duty is to safeguard traders interests and to oversee that all members (including IG US) fulfill their lawful obligations.

These two entities are considered to be the most austere regulatory agencies in the world.

The average EUR/USD spread is 0.8-0.9 pips. Because this broker is based in the US, the leverage is limited to 1:50.

The brokerage offers only Forex pairs. CFDs are banned in the US.

The availability of the website is limited to English only. This isn’t a surprise seeing that IG US is a US broker.

IG TRADING PLATFORM

This proprietary terminal has a lot to offer, but can be somewhat overwhelming when you first start using it. METATRADER 4

MetaTrader 4 is by far the most popular trading platform out there, making it the number one choice for trading. MT4 encompasses a to-the-point look and feel without sacrificing any accessibility. With MT4 you can set automated bots to trade instead of you so that you can indulge in other activities while profit is made (or lost). MT4 also comes with over 50 customizable trading indicators, great options for managing your charts, a drag and drop feature and many more pros.

The EUR/USD spread is 0.8-0.9 pips, while, seeing as this is a US based broker, the leverage is restricted to 1:50.

MT4 is available to be downloaded and installed as a standalone software, or can be accessed through an Apple or Android app.

IG MINIMUM DEPOSIT

The minimum deposit is $250. This is the average requirement, and opens the broker to less prominent traders.

The funding methods are as follows: Wire Transfer, Automated Clearing House (ACH), Debit Card. Credit card funding is banned by NFA.

The account base currency is USD.

IG WITHDRAWAL TIME AND FEES

With the most authoritarian regulators at its back, traders should rest assured that their withdrawals will run safely.

Withdrawal methods are the same as the depositing ones: Debit card, ACH and Wire Transfer.

The processing time for Debit Card and ACH withdrawals ranges from 2-5 days. For Bank Transfers it’s within 24 hours.

IG US charges an inactivity fee of $12 per month, if no trading has been detected for 2 years (or more).

BOTTOM LINE

IG US is regulated in the US and that in and of itself connotes that this broker is not only 100% trustworthy, but is also one of the top brokers in the world.

Even with all the missing information, and limited resources one must remember that online markets trading in the US is a different beast from what we are used to elsewhere in the world.
